Leanne started as a dental nurse after leaving school at 16, having known she wanted to be a dental nurse from the age of 14. She has worked at Queensway for 19 years and started as a dental nurse before training to be a treatment advisor.

What do you enjoy most about working for Queensway Orthodontics?
I love seeing patient’s confidence grow as their treatment progresses.

Where would a patient usually find you in the practice?
I am usually in my office in the crown building, chatting to patients about their treatment options and payment plans.

What is the most rewarding part of your job?
We make big changes to people’s lives. It’s great to work with such a highly skilled team who are so focused on the delivering best patient care.

What do you enjoy doing out of work?
I enjoy going to the gym and lifting weights - I train five times a week. Weekends are for family time, - I love cooking and spending time with my husband Paul and kids Declan and Megan. I do enjoy socialising with friends when I find the time.

What makes you smile?
Lots of things make me smile- I am a happy person! My husband brings me coffee in bed most mornings and that always puts a smile on my face :0)

Katie has been in dentistry for 21 years and qualified as a hygienist in 2005 from Newcastle University and as an Orthodontic Therapist in 2010 from Manchester University. She has been working for Queensway Orthodontics for six years and also chaired the BSDHT (North East Regional Group) from 2008 – 2010.

What do you enjoy most about working for Queensway Orthodontics?
Working with an amazing and enthusiastic team and being able to use fantastic and innovative technology.

Where would a patient usually find you in the practice?
Throughout the week I can be found in the Ortho building in Billingham or in our Jesmond practice on a Friday.

What is the most rewarding part of your job?
Helping people to smile more confidently.

What do you enjoy doing out of work?
Spending time with my family – my husband, Mike and my two children, Rose and Jack. I also like running, kettlebells and making textiles.

What makes you smile?
Seeing people happy!

Laura Maven

Laura trained as a dental nurse at Newcastle Dental Hospital and qualified in 2003. She went on to work at a specialist orthodontic practice in Jesmond for seven years and gained her Orthodontic Nursing and Radiography qualification. She then went on to do her Orthodontic therapy at University Central Lancashire and qualified in 2010. After a couple of years at various dental practices in the region, Laura joined Queensway in 2014.

What do you enjoy most about working for Queensway Orthodontics?
Being part of an amazing team. No two days are the same and I’m constantly learning new things.

Where would a patient usually find you in the practice?
Orthodontics surgery, fitting patients with braces.

What is the most rewarding part of your job?
Being part of a patient’s journey to achieving their new smile.

What do you enjoy doing out of work?
Visiting new places, listening to music, eating out and spending time with family.

What makes you smile?
Knowing that you are appreciated by your team and seeing patients smile at the end of their treatment.

Christine began working as a dental nurse in 2000 in a general practice before moving to a specialist orthodontic practice in 2008. She retrained as an orthodontic therapist at the University of Central Lancashire, qualifying in 2011 and began working for Queensway’s Jesmond practice in 2016.

What do you enjoy most about working for Queensway Orthodontics?
The new developments they have brought to an existing practice and their forward thinking, patient -centred approach to care.

Where would a patient usually find you in the practice?
In surgery fitting and adjusting braces.

What is the most rewarding part of your job?
Helping people to smile, especially those who were particularly self-conscious about their teeth.

What do you enjoy doing out of work?
I’ve been learning to play the ukulele for about three years and regularly play with a group of friends.

What makes you smile?
Unicorns, rainbows and sparkle!

Working alongside a great team and running the nurse led clinic.

The nurse led clinic in the orthodontic department.

What is the most rewarding part of your job?
Seeing how happy people are with their end results and also being praised/recognised by both patients and staff.

What do you enjoy doing out of work?
Socialising with my friends and crossfit.

Being able to have a laugh while working hard and my friends and family.

Michelle qualified as a dental nurse in 1999 with a NEBDN qualification in oral health, x-rays, sedation and orthodontic nursing. In May 2017, Michelle was highly commended at the Dental Awards in the Dental Nurse of the Year category.

She worked for Queensway Dental for four years before joining the orthodontic team three years ago. Since then, Michelle has gained experience working as a lead nurse and helps to deliver a fluoride varnish programme across schools in the North East.

What do you enjoy most about working for Queensway Orthodontics?
I love being part of Dr Guy Deeming’s team as I believe he is driving orthodontics forward in this world.

Where would a patient usually find you in the practice?
Either in our Jesmond or Billingham practice.

What is the most rewarding part of your job?
Meeting all the patients and learning about them.

What do you enjoy doing out of work?
Spending time with family – my husband, Christopher and daughter, Amia.

What makes you smile?
Anything makes me smile and I love making others happy.

Following a business administration apprenticeship, Laurren decided she wanted more of a challenge and began training as a dental nurse. She has been working for Queensway for two years and is currently studying for further dental qualifications.

What do you enjoy most about working for Queensway Orthodontics?
The team is amazing. I enjoy the range of courses we can train in and the progression route. I even enjoy doing stock control!

Where would a patient usually find you in the practice?
Either in surgery or reception.

What is the most rewarding part of your job?
Seeing patients get their braces off at the end of treatment.

What do you enjoy doing out of work?
Art and design, painting and pottery and gardening. I also enjoy crossfit and hanging out with family and friends.

What makes you smile?
Going out with friends and family and achieving things at work. Everything makes me smile really!

Patients can find me helping out chairside with the clinicians or in the nurse led clinic taking photos, x-rays and scans.

The best part of working in orthodontics is seeing patients end results and how it changes them into confident people.

I enjoy going to the gym and socialising with friends.

I enjoy the dynamic team I work with and how Queensway looks after their employees. The organisation thrives to always improve their service to patients.

Where would a patient usually find you in the practice?
They would find me in surgery with a GDP/orthodontist or on the reception desk in our Jesmond practice.

What is the most rewarding part of your job?
Seeing patients overcome dental anxiety and delivering an outstanding service to all patients and seeing fantastic results of their journey.

What do you enjoy doing out of work?
Socialising with friends and travelling to new destinations!

Jo qualified as a dental nurse in 1994 and has worked for a mix of both NHS and private practices. She spent eight years dental nursing in Australia before joining Queensway in 2008. Following a year living in the USA, Jo returned to Queensway Orthodontics as Orthodontic Services Manager in January 2017.

What do you enjoy most about working for Queensway Orthodontics?
Helping the team with any issues and dealing with them as needed. I also work with a team of amazing people.

Where would a patient usually find you in the practice?
In the Orthodontic office – at the bottom of the stairs.

What is the most rewarding part of your job?
Knowing that my door is always open to help everyone.

What do you enjoy doing out of work?
Spending time with my boys, date nights and girly time.

As corny as it is – my family and friends.

After graduating from university, Alex worked for a digital agency in social media marketing before joining Queensway as a Marketing and Communications Assistant in the Billingham practice in 2013. She is now based in Jesmond after taking on the role of Practice Development Manager.

What do you enjoy most about working for Queensway Orthodontics?
There are great opportunities to progress and move forward. The team I work with are fab too!

Where would a patient usually find you in the practice?
Anywhere! Working at a new practice has meant my role can be vary varied.

What is the most rewarding part of your job?
Seeing things change. The development aspect of my role has involved building work, new surgery installs and getting together a team of people. It’s really rewarding to see it all coming together.

Eating out and holidays!

Coral graduated from Teesside University in 2007 with a first class honours degree in Marketing and Retail Management. Originally from the South East, she decided to make Billingham her permanent home and has been working locally in marketing in both the private and public sector for more than 10 years.

She has since gone on to achieve an NVQ Level 3 in Management and most recently the CAM Diploma in Digital Marketing.

As Communications Manager, Coral’s role involves leading the practice marketing and communications which includes handling the company websites and social media pages, digital and print advertising, organising events for our patients, within the community and our referring dental colleagues.

Before working at Queensway, Jo worked for a HVAC-R (heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration) company for six years taking on numerous job roles including admin, sales, accounts and purchasing. As the company grew Jo was tasked with developing the company’s digital marketing and subsequently completed a marketing degree at NESMA. Realising that marketing was her passion, Jo joined the Queensway team in January 2017 where she would be able to work with a much wider target audience.

What do you enjoy most about working for Queensway Orthodontics?
I enjoy working alongside such a great team and that every week is different.

Where would a patient usually find you in the practice?
A patient would be likely to find me in the Dental Clinic building upstairs in the marketing office where I work alongside my partner in crime Mégan – also a marketing and communications assistant.

What is the most rewarding part of your job?
The most rewarding part of my job is talking to patients after they have had treatment about how much it has changed their lives for the better.

What do you enjoy doing out of work?
I enjoy running and walking Roseberry topping more so when my fiancée and little Yorkshire terrier, Snoopy join me.

What makes you smile?
My dog, friends and family – and choc nibs
