We are GOLD!

Becoming Plastic Neutral | Let’s talk trash! | Working with Kidscape

Foodbank initiative | The Salvation Army | Our going green promise

Hey Patients!

Did you know, at QO we have a commitment to making a positive difference both locally and globally through the way we run our business?

Aside from the things we do every day in our practices to reduce plastic waste and protect the environment, we are incredibly committed to supporting our chosen charities and organisations.

In light of the COVID-19 pandemic, it was Dr Guy Deeming’s wish to underpin this work in all that we do at Queensway Orthodontics. Almost two years on, we are incredibly proud to have achieved many milestones in a pledge to make our world a better place.

So why not join us, while we take a look back at our Queensway Cares journey so far. We hope you enjoy reading this newsletter!

Best wishes,

Laura

One of the highlights of our ‘going-green’ journey so far is becoming the first orthodontic practice in the UK to achieve Gold Status for all that we do as an organisation to support our team, the community and our planet.

Our team are always highly engaged in charitable giving and schemes such as our work with rePurpose Global, Kidscape and local foodbanks – and for us, this is the embodiment of our Queensway Cares Commitment.

Huge congratulations to our CSR Champions who were awarded with a certificate to celebrate this achievement!

Becoming Plastic Neutral is something that Dr Guy Deeming has been extremely passionate about achieving for Queensway Orthodontics and we are proud to say his wish has come true!

Since launching our partnership with rePurpose Global in July 2021, we have been able to recover 50 tons of plastic waste so far, with the help of our Invisalign patients!

For every Invisalign patient we treat, we offset 40kg of otherwise ocean-bound plastic waste, helping to protect our precious oceans and marine life!

We are very proud to have achieved this with rePurpose, who have also been working to remove plastic waste from the environment overseas. In Bekasi, Indonesia, we are helping rePurpose to recover 138,000lbs of plastic waste every year – that’s the equivalent of 31 million plastic pouches or 3 million plastic bottles!

At Queensway Orthodontics, we are serious when it comes to reducing plastic waste in orthodontics and looking after our world in the best way we can.

That’s why, we work closely with Terracycle to encourage our team and patients to make a positive impact by recycling their Invisalign aligners for the FIRST TIME IN 10 YEARS!

Want to get involved? You can help us in the battle to combat plastic waste by recycling your old aligners, retainers, AND oral hygiene waste at any of our five sites!

At Queensway Orthodontics, we remember what it’s like to be teenagers and we appreciate how self-conscious young people can feel throughout these years.

We see thousands of children and young people in our practices every year and understand the importance of what it means to feel confident, inside and out.

Holding something so close to our hearts, we were proud to join forces with anti-bullying charity, Kidscape in 2021 in a pledge to support those affected by bullying.

Our first campaign, #ILoveMe focussed on confidence.

After all, confidence looks good on all of us!

As part of our Queensway Cares Commitment, we are passionate about helping families and the local community. We have strong, established relationships with food banks across the North East in the surrounding areas of our practices to help give back to those who need it most.

We are proud to be able to donate 5% of sales of our sundry products in the form of toothbrushes and toothpastes once a quarter to our local foodbanks and are grateful to be able to work with these organisations to help where we can.

Last Christmas, instead of offering special offers and other gimmicks on Black Friday, we donated £2,250 worth of Christmas presents to the local Salvation Army, as well as encouraging our team to gift a toy bought from home.

Collectively, we donated over 245 Christmas toys!

This was all the wonderful idea of dental nurse Keshia in the hopes to bring some Christmas cheer and sparkle to less fortunate children and their families in our local community!

Well done to our awesome team who were able to capture this for us – watch it here!

Taking care of the environment is everybody’s business!

That’s why, we are committed to encouraging and promoting reducing the use of single-use plastic in everything we do.

We are proud to utilise reusable and recycled materials wherever we can to reduce the impact our business has on the environment, providing our team with QO branded travel cups, tote bags, face masks and more!
