Here at QO, we have pretty BIG ideas about the small changes needed to help make the world a better place!

Aside from the things we do every day in our practices to reduce plastic waste and protect the environment, we are committed to supporting our chosen charities as well as organisations like anti-bullying charity Kidscape and our local food banks.

We’re proud to have achieved many milestones in our pledge to make our world a better place and this special newsletter is all about celebrating our Giving Back journey so far!

One of the highlights of our ‘going-green’ journey has been becoming the first orthodontic practice in the UK to achieve Gold Status for all that we do to support our team, the community and our planet.

Huge congratulations to our Corporate Social Responsibility Champions and team who were awarded a certificate to celebrate their work with charities, organisations such as Kidscape and local food banks, as well as their projects with schemes such as rePurpose Global.

We understand that this time of year can be difficult for many families and we want to do all we can to help those who may be struggling this winter. We know that children are forever losing their woolly warmers at school and these items are essential in keeping them warm through the cold winter months.

So throughout December we’re collecting any unwanted hats, gloves, scarves, and woolly socks and putting them where they’re needed most, as part of our new campaign, Winter Warmers.

Get involved today! Simply pop into any of our practices and drop your donations into the collection boxes in our waiting rooms. We’ll collect all donations and deliver them to our local food banks ahead of Christmas.

This year, we launched our new Patient Green Charter where we invited patients having orthodontic treatment with us to join us in our quest to give the planet a helping hand.

We ask patients to simply:

• Use non-plastic oral hygiene products
• Recycle with us at our specialist recycling collection points
• Reduce the number of journeys to our clinics where possible
• Tell us where we can do better at reducing waste and energy

It’s as simple as that! Together we can all make the small changes needed to make big things happen!

Becoming Plastic Neutral is something Dr Guy Deeming has been passionate about achieving for Queensway Orthodontics and we are proud to say his wish has come true!

Since launching our partnership with rePurpose Global in July 2021, we have been able to recover MORE THAN 50 tons of plastic waste so far, with the help of our Invisalign patients!

For every Invisalign patient we treat, we offset 40kg of otherwise ocean-bound plastic waste, helping to protect our precious oceans and marine life.

In a fun effort to raise money for our anti-bullying charity partner, Kidscape, we invited our team to join us in The Great QO Bake Off in October this year.

We are delighted to report that we raised £177.50 for Kidscape. Huge well done to our team, for all their efforts in organising this (yummy) and fun challenge.

As part of our Queensway Cares Commitment, we have established relationships with food banks in our communities to help give back to those who need it most.

We’re proud to donate 5% of sales of our sundry products in the form of toothbrushes and toothpastes once a quarter to our local food banks and are glad to be able to work with these organisations to help where we can.

With the cost of living crisis, there’s never been a better time to cut your energy bills and be kind to the planet at the same time. We’re always looking for ways to save energy, both at work and at home. Take a look at this helpful TikTok created by the team to show some of our tips.
