This is one of the most common types of orthodontic treatments we offer here at Queensway Orthodontics. Metal fixed braces are what most often comes to mind when someone says “braces.” They are comprised of metal brackets, wires, and elastics, which work together to move teeth into proper alignment. Our fixed braces are safe and suitable for all ages and are often used for more complex cases.

How Do Metal Braces Work?

The metal brackets of our metal fixed braces are bonded to each tooth and then connected by wires and elastics. They work by applying consistent, gentle pressure on specific teeth to gradually shift your smile into the desired alignment over time. Once you begin treatment, these brackets will be regularly adjusted by an Orthodontic Therapist until your new smile is revealed.

The tiny elastic bands we use with our brace’s treatments come in an array of colours (including clear) and can be changed at every adjustment appointment. Some patients enjoy adding a pop of colour or even choose more than one colour at a time. With a choice of over 20 colours, you can be as creative as you like!
